Quick Cons: Kind of has an "intro to gaming" feel, strategy is somewhat limited,

Complexity & Mechanics: Essentially the whole game is built around playing "clue" cards that narrow down the possible location of buried treasures. Each time you play a card, you mark all the places treasure of a particular color could still be. For example; let's say the "Red" treasure (marked with red wooden cubes) has two clue cards played next to it. One shows that it "Next to a Palm Tree" and the other that it is "Not by Water." You would then place a red wooden cube on every space on the board that was next to a palm tree but not by water. Using this abstract deductive method, players determine for themselves where each treasure is buried. Once the location of the treasure is determined, the first player to get their ATV to that hex gets to dig it up. Once its dug up all players who contributed a clue to it get a shot at some of the gold pieces. Then you start playing clues on that treasure again, and so on. Once you grasp this single core mechanic, the rest of the game is a snap!

Pieces, Parts & Price: The game has a fair number of little miniatures, including wooden ATVs for the players, palm trees, and plaster statues that have a nice solid weight when held in the palm. The board is divided into three sections which can be interchanged for a variety of island formations. For the price I paid, I was pleased with the parts included.

Art & Design: Once you get past the game board (divided into kinds of terrain, similar to "Catan's" hexes) there isn't a whole lot of art. The pieces are where this game really shines, and the clever "puzzle piece" style that the game board locks together with.

Play & Replay: Out of the box this game was awesome. It suffers a bit in that only 4 people can play it, at maximum and it takes a while to set up and put away, which is always a determining factor in which game I'll pick up during an evening. For these reasons it isn't a game I'd pick up every day, but its a nice easy one that I can break out when I have "non-gamers" in the house (gasp!) or when there's a mix of ages around the table.

Fun Factor: A light game, stung again here because I loath setting up small pieces before I get to play a game. That said, the game is set up as a collaborative effort, which I really enjoyed. Trying to determine where and when to spend your clue cards was also fun, and there's still some running debate between my wife and I about whether it is better to play clues on treasure or dig it up (and thereby have more control over which random treasure cards you get). Overall a solid game worth checking out. "
